Clozapine Clinic

Clozapine Clinic

The Clozapine Clinic at the Massachusetts Mental Health Center (MMHC)
serves 150 mentally ill adults, who have been prescribed clozapine for
treatment of their psychiatric symptoms. Clozapine treatment requires
mandated weekly or bi-weekly blood draws to monitor the white blood counts
of the client. The MMHC Clozapine Clinic works with Independent Consulting
Pharmacist Services (ICPS), the agency that oversees all clozapine clients
nationally, to ensure that each client receives the necessary laboratory
monitoring in a timely manner. The client is referred to the clinic by
his/her psychiatrist. Three Registered Nurses and two support personnel
staff the clinic.
