Program Description
The
MMHC Adult Partial Hospital Program (PHP) serves DMH eligible clients
in the metro Boston area by providing a critical link between inpatient
and outpatient mental health treatment. The program provides a highly
structured 4-week intensive therapeutic intervention currently serving
26 male and female clients from the Fenwood Inn and the general community.
While
treating acute symptoms, our clinical staff provides diagnostic, cognitive,
functional and psychopharmacological consultation to outpatient clinicians.
We
provide a step down from inpatient treatment and a step up for clients
living in the community who need some mental health treatment. Often,
the treatment we provide in the Partial Hospital can divert an inpatient
admission.
The
PHP offers two distinctive highly specialized types of interventions
for its clients. The first track utilizes an intensive Dialectical Behavior
Therapy (DBT) approach that provides intervention for men and women
dealing with borderline personality disorders, other character disorders,
and in some cases, bipolar disorder. The second track employs Cognitive-Behavioral
therapy (CBT) which works with individuals with schizophrenia, and other
psychotic disorders. In addition, the program works with clients experiencing
their first episode or who have had several hospitalizations and need
intensive care while living in the community.
Given
that many of the clients have co-existing substance abuse histories,
both tracks, CBT and DBT, involve a Smart Recovery (SR) curriculum to
address substance abuse issues.
The
PHP is open:
Monday – Friday 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Saturday
10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
