Harvard Longwood Psychiatry Clerkship Program
The Harvard Longwood Core Clerkship in Psychiatry offers a diversified
introduction to contemporary psychiatry as practiced in both general
medical and public sector psychiatric facilities. Students may elect
to have their primary clinical placement on an inpatient service
at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC); at Brigham
and Women’s Hospital; on the Day Hospital at the Massachusetts Mental
Health Center (MMHC); or on the Consultation-Liaison Service at

For students from any medical school who have already had a core
clerkship in psychiatry, we also offer four – or eight-week advanced

Harvard Longwood Psychiatry Residency Training
Program
The Harvard Longwood Psychiatry Residency Training Program (HLPRTP)
is a four-year program in general psychiatry accredited by the Residency
Review Committee of the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical
Education. It is sponsored by the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard
Medical School and by three institutions – BIDMC, BWH, and MMHC
– all of which are located in the Longwood Medical Area within a
radius of a few blocks of HMS. Fifteen residents are accepted into
each year of the program. The program builds on the long and rich
traditions of all the participating institutions. For more information

Massachusetts Mental Health Center Psychology Internship
Program
The predoctoral internship program in clinical psychology at MMHC
has been part of that tradition for over 30 years. The program provides
training in the major roles of the contemporary psychologist and
the mastery of skills essential to the practice of psychology. The
program aims to develop reliable competencies in evaluation and
treatment planning, psychotherapy, psychodiagnostic testing, and
neuropsychological testing through supervised clinical experience,
