Neuregulin Haplotype and Schizophrenia Phenotype
In four studies of north European samples, one Neuregulin haplotype is approximately 2x as common in people with schizophrenia as controls (14% vs 7%). No one has yet investigated whether this haplotype is associated with any white matter dysfunction. Our study aims to provide initial data on whether this haplotype is associated with white matter defects as measured by peripheral nerve conduction and by central diffusion tensor imaging. The initial task is to collect saliva samples for genotyping from patients with schizophrenia at MMHC.
